Health, Safety & Environment Advisor supplied by TradeConnex

Hiring health, safety & environment advisor through TradeConnex

An HSE advisor keeps the safety system working on the ground, not just on paper. They review SWMS and permits, run inductions, inspect work fronts, investigate incidents and make sure environmental controls are in place. On a large solar farm with crews spread over hundreds of hectares, experience on similar sites makes a real difference.

We’ve placed HSE advisors on several solar builds. At Wollar Solar Farm in NSW, we supplied HSE advisors across all site operations. At Munna Creek Solar Farm in Queensland they worked alongside the solar labourers, plant operators, trade assistants and store personnel we supplied. On Blue Grass Solar Farm, an HSE advisor was part of a 100-strong team that included mechanics, welders, excavator and piling rig operators, and quality assurance teams.

HSE advisors are often needed for the length of a project, so many of our placements are on contract. We also recruit for permanent HSE roles through our permanent recruitment service. We work across utility-scale solar, civil infrastructure and building and construction.

We check each advisor’s qualifications and site history, interview them face to face and take references before they’re put forward.

What they do on site

  • Run site inductions, prestarts and toolbox talks
  • Review SWMS, risk assessments and permits to work
  • Inspect work fronts and follow up corrective actions
  • Investigate incidents and near misses and report the findings
  • Monitor environmental controls such as dust, erosion and sediment, and waste
  • Keep HSE registers and report to the project team
