Steel fixer labour hire

Steel fixers for slabs, footings, walls, columns and civil structures. Screened, White Card-holding and able to read reo drawings and bar schedules, supplied for the days ahead of a pour or for the whole structure stage.

Steel Fixer supplied by TradeConnex

Hiring steel fixer through TradeConnex

Reinforcement has to be right before the concrete goes in, because nobody can fix it afterwards. Steel fixers cut, bend, place and tie reo bar and mesh to the engineer’s drawings, with the right cover, laps and spacing, so the structure passes inspection and the pour goes ahead on the day.

We put forward steel fixers who can read reinforcement drawings and bar schedules, set chairs and spacers, and tie off quickly and neatly. Let us know the structure, such as slabs, footings, retaining walls, columns, pits or bridge elements, and we’ll match steel fixers to the work. If crane lifts of reo bundles need slinging and directing, ask for steel fixers who also hold a dogging licence.

We supply steel fixers for commercial, residential and industrial builds and for civil infrastructure. Each one is screened on their reo experience, interviewed in person and reference checked before they’re put forward. Because reo and concrete go together, you can book concreters and formwork carpenters through us too.

What they do on site

  • Read reinforcement drawings and bar schedules
  • Cut, bend and place reo bar and mesh
  • Tie reinforcement to the specified cover, laps and spacing
  • Set bar chairs, spacers and starter bars
  • Prepare reo for inspection before the pour
  • Sling and direct crane lifts of reo, where licensed

Steel Fixer FAQs

Yes. We put forward steel fixers who work from reinforcement drawings and bar schedules, and we check that experience during screening.

Ask when you book. If crane lifts of reo are part of the job, we’ll look for steel fixers who also hold a High Risk Work Licence for dogging (DG).

Steel fixers are booked for at least four hours per day. Some jobs only need them for the days before a pour, while others keep a crew on for the whole structure.

Every steel fixer we put forward holds a White Card (general construction induction card).
