The Wesley College Fitout and Lift Installation project delivered a significant refurbishment of the main wing roof space, creating six new bedrooms, storage areas, a study centre, a coffee lounge and additional amenities. TradeConnex supplied the general labour hire supporting key stages of the fitout. The wider works also included the construction of two new stairways, installation of a new external lift with enclosed lobbies, decontamination of hazardous lead dust and asbestos, construction of six copper dormers, and firewall installations throughout the building.
The Challenge
This was a complex build inside a live, occupied heritage building. Work had to progress carefully around the sensitive heritage fabric of the college and alongside the people using it, including hazardous material remediation. A setting like this needs dependable labour that works safely and respectfully within tight constraints.
The Solution
TradeConnex supplied 7 labourers across the project from May through to July 2024, supporting key stages of the fitout works within a complex, occupied heritage environment. We provided steady, flexible workforce coverage exactly when and where it was needed, keeping the program moving through demanding conditions.
The Result
With reliable labour supporting the team through its early stages, the fitout progressed safely within the heritage building, contributing to a finished result that added modern student accommodation and amenities while respecting the character of the college.
